Promotes and manages the volunteer programs for MSPWC while seeking to educate and involve community partners in daily operations and programming. Ensure that the level of volunteers is sufficient to operate MSPWC and meet the needs of our guests and clients every day of the year. This includes: staffing the dining room and ensuring the proper food and service are provided, staffing for the front desk, and assisting with recruiting workshop facilitators. Works in conjunction with the Learn to Earn Supervisor and Life Skills Specialist to recruit volunteers to facilitate workshops and activities for guests at MSPWC. Efficiently solicits and manages material donations by building partnerships with local business and donors. Ensures that material donations are organized and assists operations staff in distributing donations to clients. Maintains database to ensure volunteer contact information and hours served are accurate.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a comprehensive volunteer program to support meal services, front desk operations, life skills programming, and other programs at MSPWC.
Coordinate recruitment of volunteers for MSPWC by reaching out to community schools, churches, colleges, businesses, and public and private agencies.
Serve as a primary recruiter of business volunteers by connecting with the business community through local business associations and in conjunction with the Development Department.
Coordinate with Kitchen Staff to ensure donations are collected based on current needs. Work with local parishes, churches, businesses and organizations and their volunteer groups to make casseroles and/or provide other nutritious meals.
Coordinate with Operations Staff to identify donation needs and recruit volunteers/donors through emails, newsletters, websites and other media outlets.
Oversee all volunteer services for MSPWC with what mission-centered focus – love, teach and serve by
Encouraging community involvement and outreach activities to potential volunteers.
Responsible for training and supervision of volunteers and non-clinical student interns for MSPWC.
Maintain schedule of volunteers in real time; responsible for ensuring all necessary volunteer coverage for MSPWC.
Maintain up-to-date list of volunteer and donation needs; work to fill all volunteer needs.
Ensure that all volunteer and intern records contain all required information, including references, background checks, license checks, confidentiality agreement and evaluations, as necessary.
Develop and maintains up-to-date position descriptions for MSPWC volunteer positions.
Responsible for recognition of volunteers to appropriately demonstrate our appreciation for their significant contribution to the success of the MSPWC program and the profound difference this makes in the lives of individuals we serve.
Responsible for the direct supervision of the volunteers at MSPWC; including recruiting, orienting, and training.
Shows appreciation and respect for all volunteers, encouraging cooperation, providing support and encouraging others to do the same.
Oversees a variety of interns including, but not limited to: Project Serve, college interns, individual volunteers
Ensures all volunteers have the tools and resources they need to complete their work efficiently and effectively.
Collect data and present to the MSPWC Director including statistics for volunteers and volunteer hours.
Maintain and update the volunteer data base, inputting volunteer hours and other pertinent information in a timely manner.
Maintains accurate records of in-kind donations (including material goods)
Possess knowledge of and comply with mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of MSPWC.
Provide hospitality to all visitors at MSPWC and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Possess a working knowledge of all services provided at MSPWC and within Catholic Charities.
Works as a member of the MSPWC team in collaboration with all other employees and volunteers to deliver the highest quality services to all clients.
Participate in meetings and trainings as requested, to include substance abuse, health and mental health sensitivity training.
Ensures good stewardship of resources at MSPWC.
Other duties as assigned.
Key MEMEMBER OF MANANGEMENT TEAM
Assist Director in organizing and giving tours to volunteers and guests at MSPWC.
Produce accurate reports relating to outreach and volunteer services to provide information, outcomes and to summarize the success of the volunteer program at MSPWC.
Assist with developing a welcoming and inviting environment where volunteers and donors have a meaningful, experience.
Assist Director, Communications, and Development Teams with planning, promoting, and hosting annual fundraising event.
Serve on the MSP Leadership Council and work with members to recruit and retain volunteers.
MIMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Relations, Marketing and Management
or a related field and three years' experience in human services, development, management
or a volunteer-related capacity of which two years must have been in leadership supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
Requires excellent organizational skills, and written and oral communication skills.
Competent computer literacy including working knowledge of word processing, database management, and the ability to use e-mail and the internet effectively.
Ability to learn and implement database software.
Demonstrate excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills. Must be able to organize large groups of people to work together for a common cause.
Must be able to work under pressure.
Must be able to work with a diverse group of people in a team approach.
Must present a warm and welcoming attitude toward clients, volunteers, staff and visitors.
Ability to travel to multiple locations for meetings and training.
Must be accessible by telephone.
Must have c
urrent Maryland driver's license with no more than three points.
