GENERAL PURPOSE Coordinates and manages the volunteer program and supports the provider relations activities of the organization. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Receives information on new admissions. Assign volunteers and provides them with the necessary information both verbally and in writing. Maintains regular contact with patient/family support volunteers to discuss volunteers' interactions with patients/families. Assess volunteer's working relationship with other team members. Keep volunteers informed of any changes in the patient's condition and plan of care while ensuring timely documentation by volunteers. Offer/provide support to the volunteers and provide additional information and resources to volunteers as needed. Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and participates in the development and review of the plan of care for patients/families. Maintains all necessary volunteer records, including up-to-date volunteer lists, availability, volunteer assignments, volunteer time and mileage records, volunteer cost-saving data, and volunteer personnel files. Participates in volunteer recruitment and conducts volunteer screening interviews. Coordinates volunteer training classes and ongoing volunteer education and support meetings. Coordinates the activities of volunteers not involved in direct patient/family services. Creatively develops, implements and supervises the volunteer program of the hospice utilizing community and regional resources. Coordinates volunteer recognition activities. Participates on committees and performs related duties and projects as assigned. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. CODE OF CONDUCT Must adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy including documentation and reporting responsibilities. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Hospice experience preferred Must have at least two years' previous experience as a professional or volunteer in a health care, human services or similar agency. Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred. Must have 24-hour access to a motor vehicle and maintain personal automobile insurance coverage as defined by state law and/or company policy. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information. Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with other employees at all levels. Must possess computer skills of the types and at a level necessary to accomplish the job PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting (minimum of 10 pounds), fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to travel, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
