Join Our TeamJoin our strong and growing company today!nOverviewnResponsible for development and management of a quality volunteer program designed to bring residents in contact with persons of all ages in the community, and to encourage personal relationships of friendships between residents and volunteers.  The Director of Volunteer Services is expected to meet responsibilities as a member of the facility management team, in conjunction with other ElderWood facilities.nResponsibilitiesnRecruit potential volunteers and provide orientation to the facility and for their duties.nMaintain record of service for each volunteer and report monthly to Administrator.nAssign volunteers to departments according to individual and group interest and ability.nContact churches, high and middle schools, civic and service organizations for recruitment presentations.nProvide volunteer information to family members, visitors, staff acquaintances and friends of current volunteers.nWork closely with ElderWood staff on publicity and photos.nCommunicate and interpret to department heads the scope of volunteer services to maximize efficient use of volunteer time.nDesign and present stimulating and challenging job descriptions for volunteers.nEncourage volunteer feedback to ensure satisfaction with assignment and opportunity for involvement in various situations.nProvide on-going recognition, both individually and collectively, to effect retention of volunteer.nServe as liaison between facility and volunteers.nParticipate in facility management meetings, mandatory in-service presentations and such other meetings deemed necessary by Administrator (i.e. Focus Groups, Resident Care Audits, etc.).nImplement policies and procedures consistent with sound professional practices.nGenerate and stimulate student interest in health profession careers by utilizing them in order to meet Health Participation requirements.nWork closely with Activity and other departments to interpret new opportunities and how we can effect mutual support.nProfessional development through membership in WNY Chapter Directors of Volunteer Services of New York State.nSchedule volunteers as required.nVolunteer Recognition u2014 Coordinate a yearly service recognition of volunteers. Provide thank you notes, get well and sympathy cards to volunteers as needed.nAcknowledge donations received.nPerforms all job duties according to safety rules and practices required for this job position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents and visitors of this facility.nPerforms assigned duties according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this job position, and for all staff members of this facility.nGenerate and develop ideas, which improve the quality of care for residents or increase job productivity and satisfaction. Encourage involvement and recognize staff for making exceptional contributions.nExhibits improvement agents, trust builders, generators of pride in work and management techniques to perform his or her job to the utmost, while experiencing joy in his or her work and performing in a manner consistent with the aims of the organization.nAssures that all staff exhibit the highest level of customer service towards residents, families, visitors and coworkers.nQualificationsnA good general education, minimum associate's degree.  A high degree of initiative, plus well-developed planning and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal relationships for people of various backgrounds and ages. Sensitivity to needs and desires of staff, residents and families. Volunteer work experience in service-related fields. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good physical and mental health with high energy level. Flexibility for quick response to various department requests for volunteer services.
