The Volunteer Coordinator is the primary contact and coordinator for all volunteer related needs of Komen Dallas County and provides limited administrative support. The two main areas of focus are:


: Research and analyze volunteer requests received year round from the community to determine best use of Affiliate resources and service to mission and seek out new opportunities for impactful volunteer engagement.

RACE FOR THE CURE (July-October)

: Manage over 700 volunteers for largest fundraiser. This includes overseeing the Volunteer Chair and Committee, attending Race committee meetings after regular business hours, serving as primary contact for all volunteer Race Day needs, create and fill Race volunteer jobs, manage Convio database of volunteers.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

Recruit, interview and match volunteers to opportunities

Provide training, ongoing support, guidance, engagement, retention, recruitment and recognition for volunteers

Public speaking at community outreach events

Administrative duties such as filing, checking mail, scanning invoices, preparing acknowledgments


Strongly prefer Bachelor's degree or equivalent from accredited college or university or in process of obtaining same or 2-3 years of experience managing volunteers

Strongly prefer non-profit experience, and particularly in the area of managing volunteers for large-scale events

Public speaking experience required

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Highly organized with attention to detail

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable interacting with a variety of communities, individuals, volunteers, staff, board and the media

Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

Works well under time pressure and in environment where multiple projects assigned by multiple people

Capable of working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed to meet Affiliate needs. Overtime required during peak times of year

Ability to lift 25 pounds


Bi-weekly pay. Starting rate of $15 per hour with opportunity for growth subject to job performance

Travel and expense reimbursement

Business casual dress code
