pounds of excess food to help feed the nearly 1.3 million New Yorkers
struggling to put meals on their tables.
Through relationships with farms, grocers, restaurants, and manufacturers,

delivers it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other
community food programs across the five boroughs.

initiative addresses long term food
insecurity through community partnerships that work to increase access to

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. seeks a Warehouse Volunteer Specialist to
be a key part of the Volunteer Services Department.
The Volunteer Services
department is responsible for identifying, vetting, training, deploying and
retaining a high quality volunteer pool that meets **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s needs.
This position liaises with other Volunteer
Services staff to coordinate the set-up and logistics of projects at our
warehouse and occasionally offsite.
The role will be based primarily at our Food Rescue Facility in Long
Island City, Queens and reports to the Director, Volunteer Services.
Train, lead and supervise
individual volunteers for activities (i.e. food rescues and food distributions)
PIT (forklift, ride
on jack and electric jack) equipment to move product throughout warehouse in an
OSHA approved manner
Perform routine cleaning
tasks throughout warehouse as directed.
Support projects to
retain and appreciate volunteers
Regularly lead projects where volunteers sort and organize food distributed to our network of agencies.
Occasionally run New Volunteer Orientations
between the Volunteer Department, Program Department, Warehouse Department and
Business Intelligence Department.
Perform related duties as required including, but
not limited to
monitoring produce designated for programs;
assessing variety and quality
alerting programs staff of opportunities
regarding inbound produce donations
monitoring supply levels and packing materials
to be delivered agency partners
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong public speaking skills, comfortable addressing large groups
Ability to interact positively with people from different backgrounds and of different ages
Excellent customer service skills
Must be able to regularly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of weight, but no employee shall be required to lift, transport or otherwise handle materials or objects with a per unit weight greater than fifty (50) pounds unless the Employer provides an appropriate lifting/transporting/handling device(s).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel)
Comfort in working in a warehouse environment
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and possess strong attention to detail
Willingness to travel throughout all five boroughs
resourcefulness and ability
to implement creative solutions
Sense of humor is preferred!
