This is Part-Time position
Shift : 20 hrs a week (.5 FTE) Mon. - Fri. Flexible in daytime, mornings and afternoons
Under the supervision of the Director Center of Excellence in Health and Wellness, incumbent is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and implementation of the routine volunteer opportunities and signature volunteer programs at Broadmead. Incumbent will be responsible for both on-site and off-site volunteer opportunities where residents/members serve as volunteers and/or as recipients of the activity provided by individuals or organizations from the greater community.
Essential Duties:
Plans and coordinates volunteer programs for residents at all levels of care, plus members of the Center of Excellence in Health and Wellness.
Develops signature volunteer programs that are consistent with the goals of the Center of Excellence in Health and Wellness.
Evaluates current volunteer program and suggests changes.
Leads volunteer activities as appropriate and as needed.
Works closely with the Wellness Nurse and the Center of Excellence in Dementia Care when volunteer programs are recommended in an individual’s personalized care plan.
Assist with the recruitment of volunteers from the Broadmead resident population, Center of Excellence members, community volunteers, community organizations, local high schools and colleges to participate in Broadmead’s volunteer program.
Ensures that all volunteers complete the required volunteer screenings and trainings.
Supports volunteers by being available to them as questions and/or concerns arise.
Assists in managing volunteer schedules and assignments.
Establishes volunteer appreciation programs and events.
Establishes feedback program from volunteers and volunteer recipients to ensure continued improvement and to help acknowledges successes.
Assist staff and departments in identifying volunteer needs and projects.
Develops and maintains a list of individual and program specific volunteer needs and opportunities. Appropriately matches individuals to the specified need or opportunity.
Develops and maintains job descriptions for available volunteer roles.
Establish and maintain a volunteer hour tracking system.
Completes tracking forms for volunteers that are required by external institutions (ie: high school, church, etc.).
Uses technology platforms to enhance organized volunteer programs.
Creates pathways and programs that encourage and support organic (non-structured) volunteering between the Broadmead residents.
Works with the resident population to enhance the current “buddy system.
Assists in Center of Excellence special event design and implementation.
Attend scheduled departmental meetings as necessary.
Perform additional duties and projects as directed by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in the social sciences) and at least one year of experience is preferred; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
General knowledge of local and Greater Baltimore volunteer programs and opportunities.
Comprehensive knowledge of program planning skills and operation.
Requires excellent organization and multitasking skills
Proficient in the operation of computer applications and an aptitude to learn new technologies as they become available.
General knowledge of group dynamics and human behavior practices
Requires ability to work independently and with others
Requires ability to work with an interdisciplinary staff in planning and coordinating activities.
Requires the ability to relate well to older adults who sometimes exhibit confusion, impaired hearing or sight, or unusual behavior
Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with residents and staff
Ability to work with a variety of age groups from youth to older adults who will be potential participants in the volunteer program.

Ensures necessary and required documentation through timely and accurate record keeping.
Maximize effectiveness of activities through careful planning, implementation, and follow-up on an ongoing basis
Maintains any applicable certifications.
