Summary   The Volunteer Services Manager will serve as the House lead for all Volunteer programs including individual Volunteer opportunities and on-site group coordination for the Meals from the Heart, Cookies from the Heart and Family Activity programs in addition to special project groups. Essential Job Functions Plan, implement and execute orientation and training for individual shift volunteers Schedule daily shifts with special attention focusing on volunteer satisfaction, placement, and House benefit with a goal of 100% coverage of available shifts Act as lead for Team Volunteers (including Family Ambassadors, House Refreshers, Kitchen Helpers, Meal Helpers, Home Improvement Team, and Green Thumbs; make sure each volunteer understands and can execute the task at hand, and be available for questions for any volunteer. Act as the lead for Special Project Groups at the House (or coordinating off-site projects for the House, such as convention groups) Work in conjunction with Family Care and Facilities Department to develop list of volunteer tasks needed. Assist Meals from the Heart, Cookies from the Heart and Family Activity Programs groups , ensuring orientation, briefing, acknowledgment, supply oversight and overall volunteer and family satisfaction. Work with the Directors of Family Care and Facilities Support to plan and manage one-day volunteer groups, ensuring relevant jobs, volunteer satisfaction, and education on our Mission. Manage House holidays activities (decorations, treats, etc.). Coordinate the tracking of Volunteer coverage statistics In the absence of the House Director, act as lead for Meeting Room hospitality. Cross train on Family Care accountabilities for check-in, check-out and guest key activation needs. Other duties as assigned by the House Director and/or Associate Director Coordinate with House teams to be familiar with needs and unique requirements. Answer questions providing a good foundation of understanding/comfort for group prior to volunteer event. Assure that web content is current (via Marketing team) Problem solve, work to identify the best solution for volunteer and program benefit Demonstrate a caring attitude toward volunteers, donors and families. Explore corporate volunteer hour financial matching and foundation prospects, align with Development when appropriate. Responds to all correspondence and inquiries regarding volunteer services in a timely and positive manner. Executes strategies for volunteer retention and recognition including, personal thank you’s, and support of Volunteer Appreciation Event execution. Provide back up coverage for House Managers in all roles as needed. Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Bachelor’s degree required 2 years of relevant experience strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position. Must be a self-starter with the ability to multitask and function effectively under pressure. Ability to think proactively and respond appropriately. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees, and the general public; ability to represent the charity effectively both verbally and in written form. Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a sense of urgency, results orientated and meets deadlines Effective communication, writing and grammar skills, paying great attention to detail. Proficiant with computer database, word processing, Google Docs and publishing programs. Experience using Raiser’s Edge software preferred. Compassionate and caring individual, aligned to our mission and standard of care. Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Exposed to moderate noise levels Frequent interruptions, ability to multitask key. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
