 The Director of Alumni Relations serves as the primary liaison between the alumni community and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., with the purpose of strengthening relationships and building the friend raising and fundraising capacity of the alumni community. In addition, the incumbent will serve as the point person for planned giving. Reports directly to the Director of Development.


 


Primary Responsibilities: Alumni Relations



  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, through email, letters, phone calls, print publications, various online modalities, such as social media, and in person meetings and events (abiding by all necessary safety protocols). Conduct regular alumni visits to further cultivate, engage and build connections with our alumni population. Prepare full debriefs after each visit.

  • Manage and staff the Alumni Council and Class Representatives, volunteer committees of alumni constituents. Organize their meetings, facilitate their outreach strategies, and ensure successful implementation of tactics defined to advance their mission. Set timelines to meet end goals; track, monitor and report regularly on progress-to-date.

  • Develop multi-faceted strategies to re-engage alumni, leveraging events, networking, marketing and outreach plans. Continuously track touchpoints to further inform cultivation strategies.

  • Plan and coordinate alumni events throughout the year, including Reunion, Alumni Education, Trevor Connects, Career Panels, Choral Concert Gatherings, Choreolab Reception, and mini-reunions and networking events (abiding by all necessary safety protocols). Recruit alumni to assist with these events in various capacities.

  • Coordinate with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Team to continue to develop alumni programming, alumni groups and mentoring opportunities.

  • Work with Trevor Fund Director to plan and coordinate the annual fund appeal to the alumni community, and the Senior Gift.

  • For the Annual Fund alumni appeal: recruit alumni volunteers, draft solicitation letters, manage appeal distribution and follow-up, and generate tax receipts and acknowledgment letters for alumni and alumni parent giving, as well as other donor stewardship.

  • For the Senior Gift: Recruit and manage Senior Class Gift Committee (Representatives) who will work with Senior Class Gift Parent Reps and Development Office to involve students in the Senior Class Gift.

  • Collaborate closely with development colleagues in increasing support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development- related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser's Edge and periodic attendance at prospect management

  • In partnership with the Director of Development, develop a detailed, metrics-oriented annual strategic plan and strive to attain the critical objectives and goals set therein.

  • Build and manage programs that strengthen the student-alumni continuum to educate students about alumni benefits, the importance of philanthropy and increase students’ likelihood of becoming supportive alumni in the future.

  • Maintain an accurate and robust contact list of alumni and alumni parents in Raiser’s Edge 7.0 (RE) and the school portal. Track all donor contacts in donor database. Take a leading role in customizing RE for maximum effectiveness for the alumni program. Continuously research and track Trevor’s alumni and provide information to Development as needed.

  • Maintain a strategic and impactful on-line and social media presence for Trevor, including the alumni section of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. Generate digital archive of alumni related content to support outreach and engagement strategies.

  • Take responsibility for the alumni sections of Trevor Magazine and online publications. Recruit alumni to be featured and work with Communications on their profiles. Solicit and edit entries from alumni for the “Class Happenings” section of Trevor Magazine. Write articles.

  • Further develop special alumni programs for Walden, New Lincoln, and Walden Lincoln alumni

  • Maintain and build upon archival alumni materials, including the Trevor Living Archive, and familiarize constituents with the history and narrative of our school.

  • Help develop and monitor ongoing expenses within the alumni relations budget.

  • Work with Director of the Development to helm the creation of a branded Planned Giving program.

  • Undertake other relevant duties as requested.


 


Qualifications:


Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, and 3-5 years of relevant experience; facility with Raiser’s Edge (database management) and social media; team player who excels in a collaborative work style; a multi-tasker who thrives in a high-paced environment; strong customer service skills and diplomacy; knowledge of alumni programming from K-12 schools and/or higher education; sense of humor; willingness to travel; evening and some weekend work required as related to events; background knowledge in Planned Giving helpful.
