A school volunteer job involves supervising volunteers and helping staff through regular meetings where issues can be resolved and guidance provided. A school volunteer coordinates health careers program for elementary, middle, and high school students; provides health career experience and training for high school youth; and provides program oversight of the volunteer program. A school volunteers is responsible for assisting in the development of a community based clinical rotation schedule for interested health and allied health students, for evaluation programs, tracking data and providing quarterly reports. A school volunteer works on relevant boards, functions and events, establish relationships with policy leaders and other stakeholders and participate in regional and state health planning process meetings as assigned.

A school volunteer requires a bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in a relevant job is an advantage. A school volunteer should have good knowledge of health, public health, and health education and program coordination and project oversight. A school volunteer should have excellent skills in written and verbal communication and collaboration skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities. A school volunteer must be able to design, develop, implement, and provide program oversight.
